One of the most curious statistics regarding hospice in the U.S. today is that only 9 percent of hospice patients are black.I work in a largely Caucasian community, so I've always attributed the lack of African American patients to the low percentage of the population in our service area. Maybe I was wrong.
This seems to be something that should be rectified. How? I have no clue. By whom? I have no clue. Guess I'm not worth much on this one huh?

I think that there is a cultural barrier there based on fear of?? The black community rarely donates blood, which has always stumped those of us in the healthcare industry.
