Hospice Nurse experience

Catlady over at in-the-slow-lane gives a great example of what hospice nurses go through by telling about a recent experience with a patient. It's a bit heartbreaking, a bit frustrating, a bit surprising, and even a bit confusing. She had a bad day, but ends the post by saying that she hopes they have admitted some new patients over the weekend because:

people are going to die anyway and it's best done with hospice.

I don't think I can sum up my attitude toward hospice any better than that. I wish my patients didn't have to meet me, but at the same time I know that hospice is the best thing for them. Hospice makes the best out of a bad situation.
