I found this post about doctors/hospital staff dehumanizing patients in this weeks Grand Rounds and loved it. I know hospice workers are guilty of this also. We claim that we do it to keep a personal distance from the patient because we would go crazy if we were personally involved with every patient. While that is true to a point, I think it's done out of laziness more often that not.
Go read the post; it's a good reminder to all of us who work in the healthcare field.
