AIDS and hospice: one example

As promised, I'll pass on info on hospice programs that are working with AIDS patients. Here's an article that tells how "VITAS of Broward is partnering with nurses in South Africa and Jamaica to improve end-of-life care for the growing number of patients in the final stages of AIDS", and more importantly how you can help.

I have never posted any message anywhere but I just don’t know what to do anymore. You see, my little brother is dying of AIDS and even though there is no lack of information there IS a lack of help….The websites you go to are so filled with JUNK browsing them makes you tired after 10 minutes. He does not have very long and my mom and I have depleted all our money helping him pay rent, food etc….He does not want to go to a hospice because he knows that would be his last stop before leaving this world. ALL I want to know, is there ANY org. that will help a dying man live out his days in the home he loves and help with food etc.. until he dies. He applied for SS but for some reason was turned down…..I won’t go into that because it makes me angrier that I can even express in words…Sure, we got him a lawyer but do I really think he’ll last long enough…NO I see the U.S. helping countries all over the world and we should, but what about the people here, right under our noses. There should be some way that a dying AIDS patient shouldn’t have to be so stressed because they don’t know how they will survive with no place to live, no food. This more than the illness is killing my brother. Does ANYONE know somewhere I can get help for my brother fast???? Please e-mail me.
